During my OJT at the Rizal Library in Ateneo, I have noticed that each floor of the library there is a drinking fountain and I think it is one of the best features of the library. In the UP main library, there is just one water dispenser at the ground floor and I'm not sure if it really is for everyone. It just happens that I'm good friends with kuya guard that I'm able to get some water.
I believe that providing simple commodities such as water could be a great marketing idea for a library. We could place these "water stations" in strategic places where we can promote library services. Students might only go to the library to get some drinking water however, there will surely see what is in the library and perhaps a chance to be interested. The point is that I think it is an important to make students go to the library first. It is harder to market the library when users have never been there yet. So I believe that a good first step in marketing libraries is to let the users enter the place. What do you think?
